In early 2015, Chad Grubb, a lifetime Chippewa Lake resident, had a desire to create a book of memories about Chippewa Lake Park. From Chad's vision, with the assistance of a few of his recruits, Chippewa Lake Ohio Historical Society was formed.
Our desire is to preserve the history of the Chippewa Lake area which includes the present day Villages of Chippewa Lake and Gloria Glens, the Townships of Lafayette and Westfield and the former Villages of Briarwood Beach and Chippewa on the Lake as well as the surrounding municipalities. This history includes the earliest settlers through present day residents, the early businesses such as the ice houses, Chippewa Meats, Leohr's dealership and others, the many taverns and pubs that have a history in Chippewa Lake including Tarry Tavern and many more, Chippewa Lake Park with it's long history, the many activities and events that have transpired here in Chippewa Lake and the traditions that have continued throughout generations.
We encourage you to join us and get involved. We need your help. If you have been a part of Chippewa Lake or desire to become a part of our unique area, please join us in preserving the history of this great community.
